A patient portal built for a network of private clinics in Brussels. Patients can check symptoms, book appointments, request prescription refills, and message their doctor, all from their phone instead of calling the clinic.
The Problem
Private clinics drown in phone calls for things that don’t need a phone call: appointment changes, prescription refills, test results, basic questions. Staff spend more time on hold management than patient care.

MedConnect is a patient portal app for a network of 4 clinics in Brussels. It handles routine interactions so medical staff can focus on care.
Key Features
- AI Symptom Checker: patients describe symptoms in plain language. The AI suggests urgency level (self-care, routine appointment, or ER) based on clinical guidelines. Triage layer, not a diagnosis tool.
- Smart Scheduling: book, reschedule, or cancel with real-time availability. The system suggests optimal follow-up intervals based on patient history.
- Prescription Management: one-tap refill requests. The app flags expiring prescriptions and sends reminders before they run out.
- Secure Messaging: GDPR-compliant chat between patients and their care team. AI drafts suggested responses for common questions, saving doctors time.
- Health Timeline: visits, prescriptions, lab results, and clinical notes in one chronological view.
Results
Phone volume dropped 60% in month one. Patient satisfaction rose to 4.8/5. The clinics added 30% more patient capacity without hiring additional reception staff.
